Yasuno Umebayashi

Making kimonos, obi sashes and other things used in daily life with designs of plants and flowers. I try to make textiles where people can feel the natural light and wind.

  • 1956 Born in Kego, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka Prefecture
  • Graduated from Chikuyo Gakuen High School, Design Department, Textile Course
    Joined a dyeing studio in Kyoto after graduation
  • Studied under Toshiko Kamaga, Full Member of the Japan Kōgei Association
  • Submitted to the Fukuoka City Art Competition, Fukuoka Prefectural Art Exhibition, West Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition and Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition after 1986

  • Awarded 3 times at the Fukuoka City Art Competition
  • 1995Received the Fukuoka Board of Education Award at the Fukuoka Prefectural Art Exhibition
