Shiro Oshima

I use natural objects that I am attracted to in the different seasons for motifs of my designs and use porcelain clay, matte glaze and pigments.

  • 1977 Born in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture
  • 2000 Graduated from Nagoya University of the Arts, Art Division, Japanese Painting Course
    Started working at Yudachigama (Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture)
  • 2008 Graduated from Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Industry High School, Ceramic Art Advanced Course
    Selected for the Tōkai Traditional Kōgei Exhibition (selected several times from this year onward)
  • 2010 Completed course at Seto Sometsuke Training Center (current Seto Blue and White Ceramics Center)
  • 2014 Built the Shiromon Kiln in Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture
  • 2015 Japan Kogei Association East Japan and Tōkai Selection "The Presentness of Traditional Crafts" Exhibition at MOA Museum of Art
  • 2017 Solo exhibition "Vessels of Flowers, Plants and Little Creatures" at Gallery Kurimoto
