Kazuhiro Toyosumi

This is one of the works in the “Tenpyo no Hana” series that I have kept producing for the past dozen years or so. In the ancient city of Nara, where I was born and brought up, I imagined the olden times when Buddhist culture blossomed in the Nara period now long past. I put my impressions of the “time” of the Tenpyo era (729-749) into clay, and expressed the shape, coloration, and textures to give a certain feel to the piece; as if it has just been excavated.
