Morihisa Suzuki

16th generation of the Suzuki Morihisa Studio, a Nambu ironware studio founded in 1625 as purveying metal caster to the former Nambu clan.
With my experience as a graphic designer, I produces mainly iron kettles and tea kettles of both classic and modern designs.

  • Born in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture as the second son of 15th generation Morihisa Suzuki (Shiiko)
  • Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Crafts, Metal Casting major
  • After working as an instructor at a preparatory school for art universities, started working as a graphic designer at an apparel brand
    At the same time, worked as an illustrator for advertisements and magazines
  • 2008 Started producing ironware at Suzuki Morihisa Studio Ltd.
  • 2013 Started submitting to the Japan Kōgei Association exhibitions
  • 2014 Becomes CEO of SUZUKI MORIHISA STUDIO Ltd.
  • 2017 Selected as the TAKUMI of Iwate at the LEXUS NEW TAKUMI PROJECT
  • 2023 Succeeded to the name 16th Generation Morihisa Suzuki
  • 2024 Held the 16th Generation Morihisa Suzuki Succession Commemorative Exhibition at Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Store

  • 2016Received the Incentive Award at the 56th East Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
  • 2018Received the Incentive Award at the TANSUIOU special award
