Toyofumi Toyoshima

I create original artwork by adding various coloring techniques to ancient sue stoneware.
The themes of my artwork vary from very small things in nature to the creation of the universe.

  • 1960 Born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture
  • 1997 Studied under Bizen artist Yoshimoto Shuho
  • 2000 Established a semi-underground anagama kiln and became independent
  • 2005 Established a split-firewood kerosene kiln
    Has been endeavoring to perfect his style of ceramics
  • 2008 Selected for the Chūgoku Traditional Kōgei Exhibition for the first time (selected every year from this year onward)
  • 2009 Selected for the Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
  • 2020 Selected for the Japan Ceramic Society "Modern Ceramics Encouragement Prize" Chugoku Shikoku Exhibition
  • 2022 Designated as commissioned artist of the Okayama Prefectural Art Exhibition
