Career

  • 1942
    Born in Yokohama City. Graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the Kyoritsu Women’s University
  • 1962
    Studied under MITSUHASHI Renzan, the 28th generation head of the Kamakura-bori Mitsuhashi family
  • 1965
    Succeeded the family and the Kamakura-bori Ichiyokai as the 29th head
  • 1983
    Selected for the Japanese Traditional Art Crafts New Works Exhibition for the first time
  • 1984
    Submitted to the Kamakura-bori Exhibition hosted by the Museen Dahlem, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin
  • 1989
    Published the “Traditional Kamakura-bori” (Japan Publications, Inc.)
  • 1992
    1st solo exhibition at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Art Gallery
    Awarded the title of 2009 Excellent Urushi Technician by the Japan URUSHI Arts and Crafts Association
  • 1999
    2nd solo exhibition at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Art Gallery

    Submitted to the London Exhibition as part of the Japan-UK cultural exchange project, ‘Japan 2001’, hosted by the Kamakura-bori Kyojukai at the Victoria and Albert Museum

    Offered an ornamental box as a gift to the Meiji Jingu on the Japan URUSHI Arts and Crafts Association “Urushi Day”
    Submitted to the Del Bello Urushi Exhibition in Salamanca, Toledo, and Barcelona, Spain, as part of the travelling exhibition hosted by the Japan URUSHI Arts and Crafts Association
