    Born in Kijyoka, Ogimi Village, Kunigami,
    Okinawa Prefecture

    Graduated from Kijyoka Jinjo Higher
    Elementary School, learned cotton weaving technology from her mother Kana
    while in school
  • 1946
    Studied Japanese painting under TONOMURA
    Kichinosuke, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture
    Returned to Kijyoka, Kunigami, Okinawa Prefecture
  • 1963
    Opened a Bashofu textile studio
  • 1969
    Submitted to Dyeing with Two Exhibition:
    Toshiko Taira and Shizuko Oshiro, honored by
    the mayor of Ogimi Village
  • 1973
    2nd solo exhibition, Okinawa Bussan Center
  • 1974
    Received the Outstanding Skilled Worker and
    the title of Contemporary Master Craftsman from
    the Minister of Labor
