Yukiko Kashihara

In hyomon, which is an inlay decorative technique using metal sheet, I specialize in decoration with silver. I aim at expression that brings out to the utmost extent the brilliance of silver and the beauty of urushi (lacquer).

Career

  • 1963: Born in Osaka
    1981: Graduated from Branham High School (California, U.S.A.)
    1991: Completed her Master’s Degree at Kobe University
    1996: Entered the Ishikawa Prefectural Institute of Wajima Lacquer Arts and started studying lacquer arts
    1999: Selected for the 40th Ishikawa Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition for the first time. Selected 2 times to date
    1999: Selected for the 46th Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition for the first time. Continued submitting to date
    1999: Selected for the 17th Exhibition of Japanese Traditional Urushi Works for the first time. Continued submitting to date
    2001: Completed the Maki-e Course at the Ishikawa Prefectural Institute of Wajima Lacquer Arts
    2002: Attended the Urushi Course at the Ishikawa Prefectural Institute of Wajima Lacquer Arts (1 year)
    2002: Selected for the 31st Japan Traditional Art Crafts Kinki Branch Exhibition for the first time. Continued submitting to date
